If you need your GED, and have an interest in the education field, this may be the program for you. The program is free, but available to only a limited number of participants. There is an application process. and interested candidates should contact the PRACEP Office by October 1, 2018.
Starting in November, 2018, PRACEP will offer a 6-month intensive program where a successful participant will receive:
This program runs 3 nights per week, plus occasional Saturdays, and meets in a standard classroom environment with alternate learning locations possible. All participants must be committed to being present at each class, and to show up on time. The admission procedure includes official registration with PRACEP, an assessment to determine eligibility, and an informal interview.
Successful completers will have multiple doors of possibility open to them. They may find employment in a school system or similar venue as a teacher's aide. Paraprofessionals enjoy job security and good benefits if they remain in this position as a career. They may also decide to use the certification as a platform to continue their own postsecondary studies, earn teaching certification, and enter into a satisfying career as an educator.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
This program is FREE to students, including all books and test certification fees.
It is funded with a PluggedInVA grant through the Commonwealth of Virginia (in large part from the Virginia Lottery).
